    • Sidharth Malhotra meets I&B Minister Anurag Thakur at the 1st Himalayam Film Festival during the screening of Shershaah

      Sidharth Malhotra is currently basking in the success of his recently released film Shershaah. The film which was released on Amazon Prime Video before the Independence Day weekend this year was well received. In the film, Sidharth essays the role of Kargil war hero Captain Vikram Batra who laid down his life in the service of the nation while recapturing Indian territories from Pakistani intruders during the Kargil War in 1999. The film directed by Vishnu Vardhan also stars Kiara Advani. Shershaah was also the opening film at the 1st Himalayan Film Festival in Leh, Ladakh. Sidharth Malhotra flew to Ladakh for the film festival where his film was being screened. At the ceremony, Sidharth also met the minister of Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Thakur. And I think with that time and interaction with real people attached to the film whether it's Vikram Batra's brother or whether his parents kind of subconsciously preparing me for this lovable Punjabi Boy who went on to become this very heroic soldier. So, I would say definitely prep went in two months sitting with the director Vishnu Vardhan, sitting with our writer Sandeep." He added, "But, I think for me predominantly spending time and going to Vikram Batra's house was one that really changed me emotionally. It kind of gave me an immense amount of responsibility that this lovely very sweet Batra family in Palampur is going to be watching this film many years later or many months later at that time. I felt I have to give my best to justify their son's life story. So, I think that was the biggest prep or the motivating factor that I needed."     • FIR against The Kapil Sharma Show for showing actors consuming alcohol

      An FIR has been filed against the makers of The Kapil Sharma Show for showing actors consuming alcohol during a courtroom scene on the show. The complainant has accused the makers of disrespecting the court. Reportedly, the case was filed in the Shivpuri district and sessions Court in Madhya Pradesh by a lawyer named Suresh Dhakad. He claimed that the episode had objectionable scenes and was aired on April 21 on Sony TV. The case has been registered against the show host Kapil Sharma and Sony TV Director MP Singh under the OT Act and Excise Act. The matter will be heard on October 1. "In the courtroom scene, the co-star comes onstage with a bottle of liquor and urges other people to taste it. This scene outrages the dignity of the court. It should have also featured a statutory warning, which it did not," the lawyer told reporters. He said that earlier too the comedy show had aired offensive content like passing lewd comments about women.     • Sonu Nigam launches journalist Faridoon Shahryar’s debut poetry collection, Dust of Sadness

      Bollywood Hungama journalist Faridoon Shahryar's debut poetry collection Dust of Sadness was launched by singer Sonu Nigam on Friday during an online event. The book is divided into two parts: 'Innocence In Search of Maturity' and 'Maturity In Search of An Escape'. The first part has poems penned by Faridoon between the ages of 17 and 21 and the second part has poems written by him between the ages of 37 and 42. During the online event, Sonu Nigam read a few lines from the book and said that he was impressed. Nigam also said that the poems were so impactful that one had to stop and think about the lines in the poem to understand the thoughts of the poet. The singer also said that Faridoon expresses like his father Shahryar saab and manifested works like his mother, who was an English professor. The foreword of Dust of Sadness has been written by actress Dia Mira. The book has been dedicated by Fariddon to his mother and has been published by Kavishala. Dust of Sadness has also been praised by Imtiaz Ali, Manoj Bajpayee, Rasika Dugal, and Sharib Hashmi. Meanwhile, Faridoon who has been writing in Urdu for a few years now says his next collection will most likely be in the Urdu language.
